Description

This one-day workshop will bring together scholars, policy makers and practitioners, with a panel of AI developers discussing their plans for future AI tools, to determine the lessons from the past and priorities for the future of AI in law enforcement.
The development and deployment of novel AI capabilities in law enforcement is being pursued at pace. The Probable Futures Project has used a series of case studies to draw lessons from previous deployment of novel technologies within the criminal justice system and comparative contexts. These case studies can highlight comparable potential benefits and points of failure, including adverse legal or social consequences. They may identify existing risk mitigation and regulatory measures that have application to new technologies, while highlighting gaps in governance that may remain.
