Shellie McMurdo's Blood on the Lens: Trauma and Anxiety in American Found Footage Horror Cinema connects the often maligned found footage horror subgenre to significant traumatic events and societal anxieties in American history and contemporary America. Demonstrating how the subgenre continues to evolve and offer new aesthetic and thematic ways of confronting trauma, the book analyses a range of key films to identify how significant events have impacted on, and been integrated within, the found footage horror format.
To celebrate the publication of Blood on the Lens, join author Shellie McMurdo (University of Hertfordshire) in conversation with chair Kendall Phillips (Syracuse University) and panellists Aislinn Clarke (Queen’s University Belfast), Cecilia Sayad (University of Kent), Ami Nisa (Northumbria University) and Pete Turner (Oxford Brookes University).
