Description

Did you know there used to be a prison in Newcastle City Centre? If you’re interested in learning more, come along and hear from the authors of a book about this forgotten landmark. Written on the 100th anniversary of its closure, Newcastle Prison A History 1828-1925 explores hidden stories and rare images of the prisoners and the staff who lived and worked within the prison walls. Using specially commissioned 3D modelled images, the prison is vividly brought back to life. Join the authors of the book as they discuss their research and tell some of the remarkable stories they discovered. The book draws on detailed archival research and the latest digital techniques to uncover the history of the prison, the staff, the prisoners and its legacy in the city.
