Designing our Towns and Cities for People, Living and Life

Activity: Talk or presentationInvited talk

Description

Our speaker for this event will be Richard Laing, a professor at the School of Architecture and Built Environment, Northumbria University. He has worked in teaching and research for over 25 years with his research focussed on the connected themes of collaboration and participation within the design of urban spaces. His presentation will describe how our towns and cities have been changing in recent years at an unprecedented speed, driven by rapid shifts in the way we shop work and socialise. Richard will draw upon examples of towns and cities across Northern Europe and will explore how we might be able to remodel our towns and cities with people rather than technology or economics at the heart of our decisions.
