Description

Digital Skills Boot Camps, UK Department for Education
Co-investigator, team led by Professor Paul Vickers
Total Funding £800,000 + £700,000, extension bid.
In January 2021 I worked with Professor Paul Vickers in the leadership of a proposal for the provision of two Digital Skills Bootcamps in the Construction sector, working with external training partners and international Construction companies. The proposals form a major part of the 14-University national (coordinated by Bath) Institute of Coding bid to the UK Government Department for Education. This £7.5M bid (£1.5M for Northumbria: £800,000 Bootcamp bid #1 + £700,000 for bid #2) puts Northumbria on the right side of what looks like a major shift in UK Government policy. My work strengthened the IC3's visibility, contributing to capacity development in the Built Environment sector and advancing the University's civic agenda. This puts Northumbria in a strong position to secure follow-up funds which we can apply to other disciplines in the University.
