Diane’s work speaks to the interplay of material and discursive processes in how sexualities take shape. Sexualities are not ‘merely cultural’ but are formed in the practices of material and symbolic worlds. In this presentation, I address questions of the material and symbolic in order to explore how sexualities, and genders, take shape in social worlds, in which relations with others matter for the identities people express. I’ll refer to Richardson’s work and research I’m conducting on personal support, disability, gender, and sexuality.
