Description
The 'micro civic institutions of care' workshop aims to engage participants in a collective reflection on what role a micro-civic institution, like The Kiosk, can play to enable social emancipation in urban contexts. We draw on the assumption that through awareness of social, political, and economic dynamics, community run initiatives can challenge market-driven modes of spatial production, offering one possible and noncommodified response to some of today’s social challenges in our cities. Key questions include: how can The Kiosk act as catalyst of urban participation through creative agency? How can such a small place activate and drive practices of mutual care across different levels of social life? The workshop is followed by an exhibition and a roundtable discussion with Lee Ivett, Nadia Bertolino, Cameron McEwan, and Tara Hipwood.Period | 1 Jun 2022 |
