Description

Welcome to the Queer Disability Studies Network Launch Event. This free online international event, open to anyone to attend by browsing our website, was launched across 4 weeks in October 2021. Early in 2021, we published a call for contributors to respond to some questions in queer disability studies. This page shares the short written pieces, audio recordings, films, illustrations, and zines, that we received according to theme.

We’d love for conversations to happen around these contributions, and there are a number of ways that you can do this. Under each contribution are ways that you can get in touch directly with the author/creator. You can also tweet using the hashtag, #QueerDisabilityLaunch. Beyond this, please share with people who you think will find these materials interesting, or make use of the work in your own teaching or activism. We will also be looking for more contributions to the blog after the event, and you may want to respond to or build on some of the discussion points made through the event.

Note: Constructive discussion is actively encouraged, but please take care to engage with this event respectfully, being mindful of your own privileges and positions. We aim for this space to be supportive and inclusive – contributions have been made by people from a range of backgrounds and geographical contexts, both in and outside of academia and activism. Please avoid making any assumptions about others’ circumstances, and make the QDS coordinators aware if you come across anything that concerns you.

Please circulate this widely within your networks, follow our QDS Twitter handle and subscribe to the blog for regular updates.
