Description
In-person, invite-only workshop on future technologies and the creative industries, with a focus on ‘metaverse’ and its potential future effects as part of the 2022 DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) Research & Development Science Analysis Programme and run by the Centre for Secure Information Technologies and the MediaLab at Queens University Belfast. The aim was future scoping life and work in the context of the emerging technologies associated with future immersive worlds. DCMS’ CSA Tom Rodden was in attendance.
I gave a short presentation on design research approaches to investigating near future technologies and their potential disruptions to how we produce, disseminate, value and understand new digital cultural products, services and experiences drawing from my portfolio of collaborative design research.
Findings from the project will be presented in an internal report to DCMS and DSIT, including a series of recommendations, overseen by an international team of academics; including signposting priority areas for future funding.
