    FRN are delighted to announce ‘Surfaces and Boundaries: The Legacy of Guy Bourdin.’ The symposium, organised in collaboration with Somerset House, takes the exhibition ‘Guy Bourdin, Image Maker’ as a starting point, and examines Bourdin’s historic significance alongside his legacy in contemporary thought and image-making. Speakers will include exhibition curator Alistair O’Neill, photographer Dawn Woolley, dress historian Lucy Moyse, film and cultural theorist Pamela Church Gibson, fashion theorist Alison Bancroftand film-maker and curator, Kathryn Ferguson. Alongside other artists and fashion theorists they will examine Bourdin’s legacy in relation to three themes: Space, Skin, and Lens. Each section explores the different surfaces and boundaries within Bourdin’s work, and will address topics such as space, repetition and fetish, violence and the body, gender and the erotic image, vision and gaze, class and identity, Surrealism, and psychoanalysis.
