Description of impact
Project Funded by Teaching quality Enhancement fund.This project had six impacts on student learning and experience of tourism and events students.
1. The introduction of subject specific content at level 4 contributeed to create a programme identity and improve the cohesion of the group, traditionally weak among tourism students.
2. The quality of learning in level 4 was enriched with a distinctive learning activity that is exciting, modern and intellectually stimulating.
3. The introduction of a rich learning activity at level 4 helped students to take ownership of their learning earlier in the course while developing their research and inquiry skills.
4. The project promoted the entrepreneurialism and employability of level 4 students with the training of relevant business skills by training various business related skills including group work, project management and communication skills.
5. The activity contributed to make the course more relevant by showing novel ways to make a positive contribution to society, re-energising the faculty’s theme on responsible business and sustainability.
6. The project primed students for both later opportunities for experiential learning (e.g. consultancy project) and also placement opportunities.
