Indoor environment research cited by the US Green Building Council in testimony to the Hawaii House of Representatives (Mar 2019)

Impact: Public policy, law and services, Health and welfare

Description of impact

The 2016 review of indoor environmental quality and occupant well-being (Al Horr, Arif, Katafygiotou, Mazroei, Kaushik and Elsarrag, 2016) summarised the evidence on how indoor conditions affect occupant health. In March 2019 the US Green Building Council submitted testimony to the Hawaii House Committee on Labor and Public Employment in support of House Resolution 201, which asked the state to convene a working group on improving state facilities to protect the health and cognitive function of their occupants. The testimony cites the review as the summary of the evidence that indoor environmental quality affects occupant health. The House adopted HR 201 on 4 April 2019 and the Council is recorded as a supporting testifier in the committee report.
