Occupant well-being research cited in a New York State energy agency study of indoor air quality in offices (Nov 2021)

Impact: Public policy, law and services, Environment

Description of impact

The 2016 review of indoor environmental quality and occupant well-being (Al Horr, Arif, Katafygiotou, Mazroei, Kaushik and Elsarrag, 2016) set out the evidence on how indoor conditions affect building occupants. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority commissioned the FlexTech Energy Efficient Indoor Air Quality study after COVID-19 to show how New York office buildings could improve air quality without sacrificing energy efficiency. The conclusion report, written by Goldman Copeland for NYSERDA and published in November 2021, lists the review among its sources. The findings were released as NYSERDA guidance and case studies for building owners across the state.
