Office well-being research cited in BRANZ study report on building for wellbeing, New Zealand (2025)

Impact: Health and welfare, Practitioners and professional services

Description of impact

The 2016 review of indoor environmental quality and occupant well-being (Al Horr, Arif, Katafygiotou, Mazroei, Kaushik and Elsarrag, 2016) synthesised the office-environment factors that affect physical and mental health. BRANZ, the New Zealand building research body funded under the Building Research Levy Act 1969, published Study Report SR493 "Building for wellbeing: a review of the literature" in 2025 as the evidence base for its levy-funded wellbeing programme. The report cites the review as a source on office environments and again in its section on internal environments and employee wellbeing. BRANZ research informs the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment's Building Code development.
