Description of impact
The 2020 Building and Environment study led by Amit Kaushik used response surface analysis of field measurements to relate thermal comfort to the productivity of office workers, and the 2016 review (Al Horr, Arif, Kaushik and colleagues) synthesised the wider evidence. In 2023 the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, the national research institute under the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, published a mini-review on the indoor environment factors that support well-being and work in offices, for use by occupational health services and employers. Section 3.2 on thermal conditions cites both papers as evidence that thermal conditions affect performance through physiological, cognitive and psychomotor pathways.| Category of impact | Public policy, law and services, Health and welfare, Practitioners and professional services |
