Research in the Department of Marketing, Operations and Systems addresses a range of contemporary areas. These include forecasting support systems, judgement & decision making, behavioural operations research, sustainable supply chain management, social media and digital marketing, online consumer behaviour, socially inclusive marketing, consumption behaviour of brands, service failure recovery strategies, and societal impacts of technology use among others. Many members of our strong team work actively together in one or more of our Research Interest Groups (RIGs) such as the Global Operations and Supply Chain Competitiveness RIG, Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies and FinTech RIG, and Decisions & Analytics RIG.
Members of the team in the MOS department publish their research in world class journals and work closely with businesses to put their research and knowledge into business practice. Across the Newcastle Business School, over 40% of our published research and 60% of our impact case studies have been assessed as internationally excellent or world leading in the last Research Excellence Framework.
