Personal profile

Biography

I have over 12 years of experience in research and academic education, with a strong background in both academia and industry. I earned my PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle in May 2023. My work primarily focuses on using lightweight materials for high-performance structural applications in the automotive industry.

During my MSc research, I investigated the formability of tailor-welded blanks of advanced high-strength steels (AHSS) for automotive body-in-white (BIW) applications. I aimed to optimise the use of varying thickness sheets/blanks of similar or different steel types in accordance with the specific requirements of the high-stress areas subjected to severe loading conditions, ultimately reducing the overall weight of the components.

In my PhD research, I developed and modelled multiphase nanocomposites for automotive lightweighting and crashworthiness analysis, which has been instrumental in my current research and professional endeavours.

I have actively participated in various national and international projects, including EU Horizon 2020, EU Horizon Europe (e.g., SALIENT, GIANCE, ZEVRA), which has equipped me with a diverse skill set and knowledge, making me versatile and innovative in the field.

My key competencies encompass a broad range of expertise and skills. I also possess a deep understanding of sustainable engineering practices and circular design strategies, in addition to my proficiency in modelling and simulation, including the development of user-defined subroutines for commercial CAE systems. I am skilled in programming and algorithm development, with extensive experience in C++, Fortran, Python, and finite element analysis (FEA), which enables me to create complex algorithms. My expertise extends to advanced numerical and multiscale modelling techniques, where I have demonstrated several applications and published the results in high-impact journal papers, maintaining a high level of professionalism and clarity.
