Biography

Akila Rathnasinghe is currently attached to the Faculty of Engineering and Environment at Northumbria University as a PhD candidate focused on using the systems approach to develop an integrated whole-life business solution for modular housing enabled by Industry 4.0 technologies. This project is associated with Northumbria University’s research theme, ‘Digital Living', which explores more tailored housing solutions to address the economic, social, and environmental needs of citizens.

He earned a research studentship to commence his PhD studies at Northumbria University in 2021 after graduating from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 2019 with a first-class BSc Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying. Before starting his PhD studies at Northumbria University, he was employed as a Lecturer and Research Assistant at the Department of Building Economics, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
