Biography

About myself

I am a postgraduate PhD student at Northumbria University in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, cooperating with the Global Mammal Assessment programme. I was born in Frascati (RM), Italy, and studied at Sapienza University of Rome. I hold a BSc in Natural Sciences and a MSc in Ecobiology, with a thesis on the impacts of climate and land use change on mammal distribution ranges between the 1970s and today. I gathered field and research experience cooperating with the INBIOSUR in Bahia Blanca, Argentina, and with an internship at the GMA programme.

My research interests include the impacts of global change on the current state of biodiversity, trying to understand what happened in the recent past to build scenarios for the next decades. Besides that, I enjoy hiking, photography, playing videogames and mixing drinks. I am also a member of Legambiente, the oldest and most prominent Italian NGO devoted to scientific environmentalism.

About the PhD

My research focuses on identifying the correlations between anthropogenic climate change and land use change, and how they interact to impact biodiversity. We are investigating how species’ traits drive their responses to change, how stressor affect biodiversity at a fine scale, and how conservation efforts can take these interactions into account.

Research interests

  • Global change biology
  • Wildlife ecology
  • Ecosystem science
  • Biodiversity conservation
