Biography
Dr Bronwyn Mthimunye is a Lecturer in Positive Behaviour Support at Northumbria University, appointed in June 2022. Bronwyn has been teaching in Higher Education for more than a decade and previously worked at the University of Bedfordshire as well as abroad at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa.
Bronwyn's teaching philosophy is embedded in being student centered and allowing students to learn through social interaction and encouraging in meaningful conversations that will facilitate the learning process. Being student-centered and breaking down the barriers to learning and enhancing the student experience by bringing the textbook to life. Her teaching areas of expertise are Counselling and Psychotherapies; Atypical Child and Adolescent Development; Developmental Psychology and Research Methodology.
Bronwyn's clinical experience in the field ranges from individual counselling to group sessions; worked in settings that are challenging and worked in the following areas: Abused women and children; HIV/AIDS and Resilience (youth empowerment). Bronwyn provided therapeutic services in low-income communities with major social ills.
Bronwyn has research experience in dissertation supervision for both undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation projects. She is passionate about generating new knowledge and enaging with students in the process. Bronwyn is always motivating and supporting students; instilling a passion for research and adding to the body of knowledge.
