Personal profile

Biography

My nursing and midwifery career has spanned over 20 years across clinical practice, research delivery and more recently in academia as a Senior Lecturer for Northumbria University.

In my current role I am responsible for the Programme leadership of the September 2018 Adult Nursing cohort of approximately 300 students. This role incorporates a range of responsibilities relating to programme and module design and managementstudent support, engagement and enhancement of the student experience as well as quality monitoring and review.  From September 2021 I will also be contributing to pre-registration nursing programmes at Glasgow Caledonian University as an external examiner.

I completed my MA at Newcastle University in Sociology and Social research. The focus of my dissertation was decision making in pregnancy following a previous caesarean section using Foucault’s Technologies of Power as a theoretical framework. Building on theoretical understandings of power, I am currently undertaking a PhD in the area of NHS workforce wellbeing and policy implementation which I hope to have completed by 2025.

I have a range of publications including articles in peer reviewed journals, comment pieces as well as book chapters which contribute to knowledge and education of Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals.
