Research interests

Elizabeth-Jane is a writer and academic. Her research is situated in the environmental humanities and chiefly explores how contemporary creative writing responds to environmental issues. She produces creative and critical outputs, including books of creative-non-fiction in nature writing and memoir, poetry, performance and hybrid works, as well as literary critical monographs, articles and edited collections. She often works collaboratively and in the interdisciplinary fields of writing, the visual arts, science, history and environmentalism. She curates exhibitions, leads creative workshops and is presently researching wetland environments.

Elizabeth-Jane read English at Oxford and holds an MA in Poetic Practice and PhD in Contemporary Poetics from Royal Holloway, University of London. She has a PgCert in Learning and Teaching and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

The nature writing memoir The Grassling, A Geological Memoir (2019) was a winner of the Penguin Random House WriteNow award and the poetry collection Swims (2017) was a Sunday Times Poetry Book of the Year.
