Biography

Holly is a Vice Chancellor's Research Fellow in the Department of Nursing, Midwifery & Health.  Holly is a medical sociologist and has an educational background in psychology.  Holly’s research interests are focused around end-of-life, and medical technologies and their impacts on the body and constructions of identity. In her PhD research Holly explored the impact of living with a Ventricular Assist Device, a mechanical heart pump and alternative to heart transplantation, using interpretive phenomenology to explore how individuals made sense of their life with the device, and how they reconfigure their perceptions of their body and identity in response to the impacts of the technology.
