Biography

Ian Robson

Dr Ian Robson is a methodological innovator who enables new knowledge and practice change in the fields of collaborative enquiry, social design, and inclusion of marginalised groups. Ian specialises in creating shared spaces of enquiry in which social research evidence, philosophy, social theory, and the visual arts can be applied to complex and dynamic situations, and lived experience. In this field, Ian has supported stakeholders as diverse as infants, service users, managers, policy and commissioning leads, and students to meaningfully engage in transformative enquiry and change social conditions. In higher education context, Ian has designed, led and quality assured a wide range of programmes and modules at all levels of study. With public sector partners, Ian’s sensitive and creative leadership of partnerships and facilitation of action-research has been recognised for improving outcomes for infants, children, young people, and residents. The same focus on creative innovation and enquiry runs through his publications for international audiences. Ian draws on his experience of arts-based community development, team and senior management in local authorities, teaching and learning in Higher Education and personal experience as a foster carer and adoptive parent of disabled children.
