Research interests

Jane Wilcockson worked in the Health Service for more than a decade prior to studying for her first degree in Social Policy at Newcastle University (BA Hons 2:1). Jane worked as a Researcher in the Department of Education at Newcastle University and commenced her doctorate exploring ‘Planning and professional practice: a study of teachers and nurses’ (Phd, 2002). It was at Newcastle University that her interest in how CAQDAS (computer assisted qualitative data analysis software) can support qualitative researchers in their work was initiated. Jane moved to Northumbria University in 1995 working on a range of research projects including Hospital Discharge, Palliative Care and Inclusion. Jane’s particular research interest is in Dementia and the Wellbeing of Older People. Jane has enjoyed a varied research career using a wider range of methodologies, both within and out with the University, Jane has acquired a extensive knowledge and experience of using NVivo, software designed to assist the storage, management and retrieval of both large and small datasets.
