Biography
Prior to moving into Higher Education at Northumbria University Michealla has worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Supervisor, Senior Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and Team Lead.
She is a Registered Nurse and BABCP Accredited Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer and has over 23 years experience working with children and young people. Michealla is a Senior Lecturer at Northumbria within the Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies Department where she has programme and module leadership responsibility for the Education Mental Health Practitioners Programme (EMHPs).
Michealla is currently undertaking PhD study (Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health) with her area of research focussing on Group Parent Guided Cognitive Behavioural Therapy programmes (GPD-CBT) facilitated by Low Intensity Practitioners. How does university training and supervision influence the confidence of the practitioners and outcomes for patients?
