Biography

Dr Mohammed Mazumder is an accomplished academic who joined Northumbria University in January 2020. He brings a wealth of experience to his role, having previously taught Financial and Management Accounting at the University of Dhaka for over a decade. He holds a PhD from Tohoku University and an MBA in Accounting from the University of Dhaka, which reflects his commitment to achieving the highest levels of academic excellence.

Currently, he is the module lead of AF4035: Management Accounting and Analytics at the UG level and AF7023: Financial Planning and Control at the Master’s level. He also serves the role of Deputy Programme leader of the MSc Forensic Accounting programme. Previously, he was the Departmental Ethics Lead at the Newcastle Business School of Northumbria University.

His research interests are equally impressive, with a particular focus on corporate reporting practices such as risk reporting, intellectual reporting, CSR and sustainability reporting. His expertise in these areas is demonstrated by his publication record in international peer-reviewed journals, including Business Ethics: A European Review, Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies, Journal of Accounting & Organizational Change, Journal of Operational Risk, International Journal of Comparative Management, Asian Journal of Economics and Banking, and Indian Journal of Corporate Governance.

Furthermore, as a Fellow Cost and Management Accountant (FCMA), Dr Mazumder has a solid professional network and is committed to contributing extensively to professional development. His expertise, experience, and dedication to the field of Accounting make him an invaluable asset to Northumbria University.
