Biography

Ts. Sr. Dr. Puteri Nur Farah Naadia is the Programme Lead for the Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Engineering and Environment, at Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.

Previously, she held key positions at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM), including HWO Dissertation Coordinator and Programme Director of the Quantity Surveying and Construction Project Management (QSCPM) programme from October 2021 to July 2023. In these roles, she managed undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Quantity Surveying, Construction Project Management, and Commercial Management.

Dr. Puteri holds a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Honours) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and upgraded her Master’s research into a PhD in Built Environment in 2014, focusing on takaful for construction works. She further expanded her expertise through post-doctoral research at the International Shari’ah Research Academy (ISRA) in Malaysia and attended the Durham Islamic Finance Summer School in 2018.

With a wealth of experience spanning academia, technical disciplines, and leadership, Dr. Puteri is pursuing recognition as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Her academic and research interests include construction management, procurement, insurance, contract administration, risk management, and Shariah-compliant financial instruments, particularly takaful and micro-takaful in construction.

Dr. Puteri actively contributes to professional and academic communities. As Deputy Chair of Research Ethics at Heriot-Watt University, she upheld rigorous research standards. She is also a panel member for the RICS QS Black Book and the Technical Working Committee on Global Construction Standards. Her editorial roles include contributions to the Journal of Quantity Surveying and Construction Business and the Procurement and Project Delivery System Research Unit at IIUM.

Her academic contributions have earned her invitations as a visiting academic at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh (2022) and Kyoto University Graduate School of Management (2017). In industry, she gained valuable experience with Juruukur Bahan Malaysia (JUBM), contributing to projects such as Monash University Malaysia and the Emerald West development in Rawang.

Dr. Puteri’s current research focuses on risk assessment in social housing development, AI-driven solutions for safeguarding vulnerable communities, and data-informed strategies for optimizing housing policies. She has led initiatives on risk management frameworks and collaborated with the Ministry of Higher Education on notable projects, including frameworks for housing development for underserved populations.

As a Chartered Surveyor and Professional Technologist, Dr. Puteri is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), and the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBoT). She is also a Professional Quantity Surveyor accredited by the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) and an Associate Junior of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF).
