Dr Tanya Wyatt is a Professor of Criminology. Her expertise is in green criminology with a specialism in wildlife crime and trafficking, non-human animal abuse and welfare, and the intersections with organised crime, corporate crime, and corruption. She has recently completed a study for the Scottish Government on Non-custodial Interventions for Animal Welfare and Wildlife Offences, which has sparked an interest in challenging the punitive nature of sanctions for crime, even those against non-human animals. This builds on an ongoing interest in the trafficking of puppies. Professor Wyatt also is interested in crimes of the powerful, particularly industrial agriculture and wider issues of pollution.
