Mr
Will is an Architect and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Architecture & the Built Environment at Northumbria University where he actively engages in design led research and research led teaching.
Originally drawn to the North East of England to study Architecture at Northumbria University, attracted by the course's emphasis on studio culture, Will has returned to the region engaging in both teaching and practice.
Prior to re-joining Northumbria University in 2020, Will was a practising Architect at RIBA, Stirling Prize winning Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBStudios) actively contributing to or leading on schemes across a range of sectors including, Higher Education, Workplace, Arts & Culture, Residential and Charitable Work.
As a permanent member of the teaching team and Year 2 Co-leader, Will enthusiastically contributes to the development of the Undergraduate Architecture Degree in particular, building on the established studio culture, authentic project based learning and schemes collaborating with regional live sites and partners.
Will’s research interests focus on craft and making within architectural education and practice a topic which formed the basis of an MA in Architectural Studies. In addition Will has a robust interest and knowledge in environmental design and sustainability in the construction industry.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
