Biography
Dr. Yan Gao joined Newcastle Business School at Northumbria University as an Assistant Professor in International Business in October 2023. She brings with her a wealth of academic experience and a strong research portfolio in the field of international business. Dr. Gao obtained her Ph.D. in international Business at the University of Texas, El Paso. Her research focuses on the internationalization of EMNEs, Foreign Direct Investment, and Cross-border Merger and Acquisitions. Her work explores the strategic decision-making process and challenges faced by EMNEs, providing the valuable insights into the dynamic interplay between institutional contexts and international strategy of MNEs.
Before joining Northumbria University, Dr. Yan Gao held academic positions at prestigious universities in both China and the United States. These roles have equipped her with diverse teaching and research experience, as well as a global perspective on business education. Dr. Gao’s academic journey reflects her commitment to advancing knowledge in international business and fostering cross-culture understanding in the context of an increasingly interconnected world.
