Timpson Manley has won the £5,000 first prize in an ideas competition to create a gateway into Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. Initiated by the city council, the objectives were to create a landmark structure for the area and to develop a pedestrian route from the city centre - the Quarter is currently cut off from the city by a six-lane highway.The second prize of £3,000 went to Ruth Conroy with Nick Dalton, while a joint third prize of £1,000 each went to Bernard Engle Architects and Planners and Estell Warren Landscape Architects.
