    Abstract

To quantitatively analyze the rationality of dart distribution in cheongsams, sleeveless, slim-fitting women's cheongsams were selected as the research subjects. Three different dart distribution schemes were designed, and cheongsams of the same garment size were produced. Three mannequin samples were scanned using a non-contact 3D scanner. Three evaluation metrics were obtained using the angle sampling method: the difference between the sample waist circumference and the mannequin's net waist circumference, the difference between the sample's chest circumference and waist circumference at different angles, and the angle between the line connecting the sample's chest and waist and the horizontal section of the waist circumference at the same angle. Analysis and comparison of the distribution trends, means, and standard deviations of these metrics indicate that the three samples each have their own emphasis on waist-tightening effects, which are strongly correlated with their dart distribution. Further analysis indicates that the experimental base sample pattern has the most ideal dart distribution and overall balance.
