Abstract

The aviation industry includes various aspects of air travel, such as airlines, air travel services, aircraft manufacturing, and military aviation. While it is experiencing rapid growth, the industry faces challenges of increasing passenger demand and maintaining service quality while reducing carbon emissions. As fierce competition in the aviation industry continues, airlines and aircraft manufacturers strive to maintain operations at minimal costs. The emergence of Industry 4.0 has already introduced smart technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, augmented reality, machine learning, big data analytics, cloud systems, and blockchain to the aviation sector. The emergence of these technologies generates new opportunities for efficient and sustainable growth. Integrating these smart tools into aviation operations enables companies to improve efficiency and resilience, particularly in situations such as disruptions resulting from pandemics, airspace closures, and government restrictions. This chapter explores the integration of smart and sustainable concepts in the aviation sector and discusses their practical applications.
