Abstract

Teaching visualization design to beginners is a challenging and important activity. This work proposes a data-driven framework for teaching visualization design. The data-driven framework consists of three modules; data processing, data transformation and data embellishment. Each of these modules have a motivation and are characterised by sub-modules that help accomplish the motivation. We define and elaborate such a framework, speculate on an implementation of such a data-driven framework and finally propose a syllabus based on the data-driven visualization design framework.
