Abstract

This is the second Assessment in Higher Education Conference, building on the successful event in 2008. It is a collaboration between Cumbria Study of Higher Education Network (C-SHEN) and Northumbria University Centre for Excellence in 'Assessment for Learning'. The conference is a response to the high impact of assessment on the student experience despite the fact that numerous reports, research and student surveys signal current practice as no longer 'fit for purpose', amateurish and in need of repair. This conference is an opportunity to debate concerns, increase understanding of assessment practice and share innovations, reflections on practice, research and evaluative studies. It will look at the future as well as critique the past, exploring potential in new forms of assessment and e-assessment.
