Abstract

Discusses two cases on the scope of a solicitor's duty of care and the use of retainers: Harry v Curtis Law LLP (CC) on whether solicitors were obliged to advise a house buyer on matters which were part of the wider development on which the property was situated; and McDonnell v Dass Legal Solutions (MK) Law Ltd (t/a DLS Law) (Admin) on whether there was an express or implied retainer between the claimant and a firm of solicitors for the purposes of a claim against the firm for loss of opportunity associated with the failed sale of a scrap and storage yard.
