Abstract

Visible light communications (VLC) by deploying modern light emitting diodes (LED)s and their characteristics let us to implement optical wireless communications (OWC) in the visible part of the spectrum. One proposed solution is to use VLC along with Ethernet local area network (LAN) structures. Here, we study the implementation of an amplify-and-forward analog 100Base-LAN over VLC. An adaptive equalization technique is used to improve the total system's performance. The addressed VLC-LAN combination is a practical choice for providing a wireless network in an indoor environment where LEDs are commonly used for lighting.
