Abstract
In 1987 Professor Horlock published an approximate analysis of feed heating and district heating steam plant based on then current steam plant. This note examines the validity of this approximate analysis for a range of different boiler and condenser conditions in the light of an increased interest in district heating. It is shown that the analysis of Horlock is best suited for boiler pressure around 40 to 50 bar and temperatures from 300 °C to 500 °C.
