Abstract
This project examined the need for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training in prisons in North East England. The project included research with staff working in three prisons and a group of prisoners. The assessment found that MHFA training could potentially help prisons to identify and care for prisoners with mental health issues, but that much depended on the effectiveness of its roll-out.
