Abstract

We propose a method for positioning in indoor environments based on optical camera communications (OCC), which uses light emitting diodes (LEDs) as the transmitters and a camera as the receiver. In OCC, LEDs are used for lighting, data transmission and indoor localization. In this paper, we use variable number of LEDs for localization and estimate the location using the view angles between LED's images, which leads to a single objective optimization problem. We propose the imperialist competitive algorithm to optimize the positioning problem and estimate the position more accurately. The results show that the proposed method offers improved performance compared to other methods reported in the literature.
