Assessing integration of spare part inventory management and predictive maintenance as a digital supply chain solution in automotive supply chain

We aim to ascertain the pain points and economic value of integrating predictive maintenance (PdM) with spare part inventory management in automotive supply chain (ASC). We conducted multiple case studies to diagnose pain points and recommend potential solutions. We identified major process and organisational-based pain points and recommended an optimum scenario to promote this integration. This study helps managers save supply chain (SC) costs through un-tapped technological-driven spare part supply chain management. The digital integration of PdM and spare part inventory management as data and SC efficiency practice in automotive sector is yet to be considered by managers and scholars.
