Abstract
Traditional exam distribution systems suffer from major security flaws, including unauthorised access, paper leaks, tampering, and lack of accountability. This paper presents a blockchain-based framework, ASSURE-EXAM (Auditable Secure System Using Reliable Encryption for EXAMinations), designed for secure, transparent, and tamper-resistant exam distribution. The system integrates Ethereum smart contracts for access control, IPFS for decentralised storage, and time-lock mechanisms for scheduled release. The novelty of this study spans 3 key dimensions: methodological, introducing the first end-to-end framework for pre-examination paper distribution, integrating both time-lock and access control; implementation, demonstrated through a functional prototype with performance metrics; and analytical, conducting systematic gap analysis which compares blockchain-based solutions against traditional systems across twelve dimensions.
