Abstract
The integration of 3D weaving technology into garment manufacturing represents a significant advancement in textile production. This paper introduces an innovative software solution, which seamlessly integrates Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems to streamline the creation of intricate 3D garments in a single weaving cycle. Traditional garment manufacturing is labour-intensive and involves multiple pre- and post-production steps, whereas AIGDM eliminates the need for multiple CAD/CAM tools, reducing errors, enhancing efficiency, and minimizing waste. The software translates fashion designs directly into loom-readable formats, facilitating efficient, automated workflows. The research demonstrates how this advanced software solution can revolutionize garment manufacturing by reducing production time, costs, and material waste, thus contributing to more sustainable practices in the textile industry.
