Abstract

Owners are starting to enforce that architects and other design professionals, construction managers and construction companies adopt BIM. This trend gained enormous momentum when the General Services Administration (GSA) of USA announced that it would require all schematic design submittals to be in BIM format starting in 2006 (US-GSA, 2008). Many other similar uptakes from Europe and Australasia have followed (Mihindu and Arayici, 2008).
