    Abstract

'Bosc' is a feature film that was developed through a unique collaboration with director Ian Cottage and actors Alex Elliott and Lauren Hurwood over a five month development process. A film, based on the findings of these workshops, was subsequently shot in Spain over 14 days in October 2015.
The development of ‘Bosc’ was influenced by workshop techniques employed by theatre groups such as Simon McBurney’s ‘Complicate’, Peter Brook’s ‘Bouffes du Nord’ and Robert Lapage’s ‘Ex Machina’. The work involves gathering anecdotes and stories from people in specific places and developing these through a series of actor workshops to create characters and storylines. The process is designed to enable a writer &/or director to speak to the characters that have been created and, in so doing, define and build a narrative with those characters. The work is organic by its very nature and the story is in a constant flux, inviting change throughout the development and production process.
