Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore business process management evolution, determine the state of existing knowledge and apply a business process management methodology to a test case. We conducted a literature review to determine characteristics of the development of business process management over time. Among the addressed methodologies, we selected the most appropriate for process simulation and compared their modeling and simulation capabilities. Our comparison led us to select the Tabular application development methodology, used to build a missing person incident investigation process model that we further translated into the process simulation within the iGrafx simulation environment. The contribution of this paper consists of the business process management evolution blueprint, and its novel approach to the assessment of the public safety incident from the process management perspective.
