Abstract
I have a particular interest in museological claims about the construction of knowledge through the collecting and exhibiting of objects. In my theoretical writing I reflect on my experiences as an artist-curator, especially those moments in art galleries and museums when material presence fails to support interpreted meaning. In this paper I turn my attention to the loss of presence, and the implied disappearance of interpretation, associated with the fate of plaster cast collections in contemporary art school environments.
