    Abstract

Not Necessarily in the Right Order by artist collective Common Culture is a site-responsive three-screen video and sound installationshowing at New Art Exchange. Common Culture present a surreal futuristic fantasy inspired by the cultural diversity within Nottingham. The piece is a visually spectacular montage of musicians, actors and dancers who are rehearsing for a new carnival of the future. On 21st November, 6.30pm- 8pm, the members of Common Culture, David Campbell and Mark discuss their filmic influences at Durden New Art Exchange. The presentation included extracts from a range of films including: Lars Von Trier's Dogville (2003), Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville (1965), John Coney's Sun Ra: Space is the Place (1974), Andy Warhol's Screen Tests (1964-66) and Herbert Ross's Footloose (1984). This unique event will explore the artists’ rich practice with a greater depth of understanding.
