Abstract

Cosey Complex is the first publication solely dedicated to the work of influential Feminist artist and musician Cosey Fanni Tutti. Co‐edited by Maria Fusco with curator Richard Birkett, the book has fifteen new commissions from international practitioners including artists, critics, fiction writers, graphic designers, musicians and theoreticians, aiming to introduce Cosey Fanni Tutti to a wider interdisciplinary audience. The book discusses and theorises Cosey as methodology, to test and embody an original form of the artist's monograph. Contributors were invited to work with the concept of 'Cosey' thereby shifting the notion of the artist from noun to verb. Cosey Complex is developed from a one‐day conference, convened by Maria Fusco, at Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), London, 27 March 2010, and is funded Arts Council England, the Institute of Contemporary Art and the Swiss Cultural Fund.
